Odisha mountaineer Bhoi scales Mt Aconcagua

Odisha mountaineer Jogabyasa Bhoi successfully climbied Mt Aconcagua, the highest peak of South America yesterday. It was the fifth continental summit expedition of his career. Earlier, he successfully climbed Mt Everest (Asia & World), Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt Elbruse (Europe) and Mt Carstensz Pyramid (Austrilia & Ocenia).

``It was very challenging because the weather condition was too windy and there was shortge of oxygen. Before summit day, we walked around six hours amidst 40 to 50km speed cold wind from camp two to camp three (above 20,000ft) faced. I felt it was equivelent to 7,000m altitude,’’ recalled Bhoi.

``When we reached at Berlin Collera camp everybody encountered wind and snow.We stayed in a small wooden hut. After some moments, our expart guide or leader arranged the tent. We had never seen that type of wind storm and snow fall. We also felt shortge of oxygen because very dry mountain,’’ he added.
